In 1961, the first Renault 4 rolled off the production line and was part of a small revolution at the home of the French car manufacturer. With the successors of this model series, the comfort and equipment was also expanded, so that the seats had upholstery and the transmission was extended by another to four. With the new facelift from 1974, a new black plastic grille was processed at the front and the Renault logo moved to the center. A special marketing campaign at the time ensured an incomparable increase in the level of awareness. Renault had 200 white R4s drive past the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Over time, several different versions have been produced. The predecessor model, the 4CV, had even been available since 1946. In Spain, the Guardia Civil and the French Gendarmerie used the R4 as official vehicles, well into the 1990s and accordingly even after production stopped.
