In 1974 – during the first energy crisis – the 911 Turbo 3.0 suddenly debuted! The supercharged engine of this Porsche delivered the unimaginable power of 260 hp at 5,500 rpm. The knowledge gained by Porsche in motor racing was clearly incorporated into these sports cars. In 1972, the more than 1,000 hp racing sports cars of the type 917 dominated the American Can-Am series – the Porsche 911 Turbo benefited from this development, as it was now one of the first road sports cars whose performance was increased with the help of an exhaust gas turbocharger. In 1978 came the next increase: the 911 Turbo 3.3 was available and now produced 300 hp and was thus 40 hp more powerful than its lower displacement brother.

A Porsche 911 Turbo 3.3 from the year of construction 1979 can now also be purchased in this auction: The first delivery of this sports car with the chassis number 9309800589 took place in the USA, over the years this 911 then came to Germany – How many owners of the car has in total is not known, as there is no history of the vehicle. However, 3 keys are still included with the turbo and the last TÜV completed runs until June 2023, an H-approval already ennobles this Porsche. According to the seller, the matching numbers have been preserved, an expert opinion on the 911 is also available.

"Mocha brown" is the name of the paint finish of this Porsche Turbo: According to the current owner, a complete painting of the paint in the original colour has already taken place. There are no color differences on the body, except for lighter traces of use, no deficits in the paint are to be criticized. In the area of the rear bumper on the left side, a small dent can be seen, otherwise the bumpers are not damaged. The seller also excludes an accident in its holding period. Striking on this 911 are the USA-specific bumpers as well as the third brake light at the rear of the car, which is placed above the huge rear spoiler.

This 911 is fitted with Continental tyres, which are mounted in good condition (with 6mm tread depth) on original 5-spoke Fuchs rims – no curb scratches can be removed from the Porsche aluminium rims. The brakes have recently been redesigned, and a Bilstein chassis has improved road holding.

Leather in the colour "cork" can be found in the interior of the 911 Turbo: the full leather seats, the door panels, the leathered dashboard and the interior carpet are kept in this colour. The condition of the interior of the Porsche is to be attested to a well-groomed condition, as a drop of courage a crack in the dashboard can be found and on the headliner shows a spot. The equipment of this sports car includes, among other things, a steel sunroof, electric windows, electrically adjustable seats, a 3-spoke leather steering wheel, air conditioning and a contemporary Porsche radio. All switches, levers, instruments and displays in the interior can be attributed a good and functioning condition.

The speedometer currently shows almost 300 kilometers. According to the seller, this Porsche should have run a total of 124,000 miles. Converted into kilometers, this would correspond to a mileage of almost 200,000. In view of this overall mileage, the car can be attributed a good optical and technical condition – such a mileage would not be suspected, without knowing it, with this turbo.

From a displacement of 3.3 liters, this turbocharged six-cylinder boxer engine generates 265 hp (power somewhat throttled due to the stricter exhaust regulations in the USA). The gears are engaged via a 4-speed manual transmission, current defects in the technology are not to be listed according to the seller' information. A final maintenance, in which all liquids were replaced, took place in June 2021 – most recently, the spark plugs were renewed and the battery was replaced.

In view of the age and mileage of the Porsche, the underbody is in good and rock-solid condition. If you are looking for a sports car classic with turbocharging of the "old school", you can't avoid a 930 Turbo.
