Model history:

In the course of the sports compact car/pony car boom that took place in the USA in the 1960s, the Plymouth Barracuda produced by Chrysler also came onto the market. A total of three generations of the Plymouth Barracuda were produced between 1964 and 1974. The 2nd generation (1967-1969) was followed in 1970 by a Barracuda version, which threw off any similarity with the Plymouth Valiant used by Chrysler as a base and stood on a shorter and wider version of the Chrysler B chassis. In addition to 2 six-cylinder engines, there were also a wide variety of V8 engines with 5.2- to 7.0-liter displacement.

In this auction, a Plymouth Barracuda from the first registration in 1970 is now up for auction, which is a USA import with the chassis number BS23N0B227156. According to the seller, the coupe has only 4 owners but also the so-called matching numbers. Although there is no documentation on the vehicle's history, the mileage should be approximately traceable according to the seller's statements. This partially restored Plymouth already has an Austrian historical registration, a sticker report from 05/2023 does not say any technical defects, according to the seller.

Exterior paint/paint/body:

The appearance of the Barracuda is aggressive, muscular and sporty: this coupé has a yellow paint finish with matt black areas. According to the seller, the car has already been repainted, but it is confirmed that it is free of accidents. With the exception of slight rust blisters on the door sills, after consultation with the current owner, no major defect can be mentioned, which could negatively affect the good visual appearance. All chrome trim on the body is apparently in shiny condition and all add-on parts seem to be present on the vehicle.

Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:

Black 5-spoke rims with chrome rims, together with G/T radial tires with white lettering, provide the extended visual appearance of this Barracuda. The seller certifies that both the tires and the brakes have an assessment of 70-90%. In 2018, the front brakes were converted to disc brakes. Hi-jackers represent, among other things, the chassis.

Interior:

The interior is sporty black with its leather seats. Coarse signs of wear or even missing parts in the Plymouth interior cannot be removed, and all switches and displays obviously work without any problems. The equipment of this Barracuda includes, among other things, a 3-spoke steering wheel as well as an original radio, which is without function and a retrofitted tachometer, which is mounted on the center console. The speedometer in this Barracuda, first registered in 1970, has a 5-digit rating with a mileage of 20,549 miles. After consultation with the seller, the coupe is said to have run a total of approx. 120,549 miles (converted into KM approx. 193,930).

Engine:

In 2016, the entire technology, including the engine and transmission, was restored, and the engine wiring was renewed in 2022. In addition, some underbody panels and tank were newly installed. From a displacement of 6.3 liters, the V8 engine of this Plymouth Barracuda generates a whopping 276 hp, and the power of the 8 cylinders is transmitted to the rear axle via a 3-speed automatic transmission. The Flowmaster exhaust system provides good sound. The last service work took place in June 2022.
