Model history:

When BMW discontinued production of the 02 Cabriolet in the 1970s, there was an emptiness of open convertibles without safety bars in the market segment of compact convertibles for a long time. It was not until the open-top threesome based on the BMW E30 presented at the IAA in Frankfurt in 1985 that a BMW Cabriolet was added to the model range again after more than 15 years. With the open-top version of the E30, the buyer received an iron-free open-air pleasure, which could be transformed into an attractive coupé in a few simple steps in the event of a rain shower. BMW made it easy for the driver by not having to get the soft top out from under a tarpaulin, but waiting in a soft top box with a fixed lid for its use. Later, there was even an electric drive for the roof.

General information about the vehicle:

This BMW E30 Cabriolet 320i offered here is a completely restored example. The BMW was first registered in August 1991, the VIN is WBABA11000EB53703. Only 4 previous owners called the E30 his own so far, the next main inspection is not due until September 2023 and a history of the car is available. Furthermore, it should be mentioned that a valuation report from Classic Data from 2021 is available for the car, in which this 320i Cabriolet was certified the condition grade 1 with a market value of € 28,000. In addition, a detailed valuation report on the restoration costs of the extensive complete restoration is available, in which an amount of the restoration costs of over € 45,700 including VAT has been reached.

Exterior colour/varnish/body:

"Calypso red metallic" is the name of the noble paint colour of the BMW 320i Cabriolet, which harmonises very well with the black soft top. In the course of the restoration work, the BMW was completely dismantled and rebuilt, almost all parts were new or refurbished and a complete painting took place. A paint layer thickness measurement is available and can be read out of the valuation report. Furthermore, many steps of the restoration have been compiled in pictures as well as a description in the detailed report. The large number of detailed images in the photo gallery also speak for themselves.

Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:

Original BMW multi-spoke alloy rims are mounted on tyres in the dimension of 195/65, no defects can be detected with regard to the tyre tread depth. Chassis and brake system have been completely renewed / overhauled and are therefore in clean condition.

Interior:

The leather interior of the BMW 320i Cabriolet, which is in very clean condition, has also been revised on a grand scale. Missing parts or inconsistencies are apparently not recognizable. In addition to the typical seat adjustment, the sports leather seats also have a thigh support adjustment. After deciphering the optional equipment codes, the following additional equipment is located in this convertible: ABS, headlamp range control, fog lights, automatic radio antenna, heated front seats, sports suspension (M-Technology), central locking. According to the seller, all equipment functions work perfectly.

Mileage

86,440 kilometres can be read on the 6-digit speedometer of this BMW, a history of the restoration work is available and all instruments in the instrument cluster run perfectly.

Engine

The engine and transmission were also revised in the course of the extensive restoration. As the model designation 320i already reveals, a 2.0-liter engine is hidden in the front of the E30. The in-line six-cylinder engine delivers 129 hp - power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission.

Subsoil:

Without any complaints, the subfloor can be seen: Here it becomes clear once again how extensive the restoration work was carried out. The completely revised condition, the receipts and the detailed valuation report on the restoration costs, in which, among other things, the working time and the parts costs were taken into account, provide information on what effort was made to bring the BMW in this condition, in which it is now here for auction for its future owner.
