Model history

The Jaguar MK2 was introduced in 1959 as a further development of the 2.4 Liter and presented itself as significantly more modern with enlarged window areas, disc brakes on all four wheels, and a wider track. The 2.4-liter version now delivered 120 bhp, coupled with a manual four-speed transmission or an optional Borg-Warner automatic. Despite its lower power output, the MK2 was known for its balanced driving dynamics and stylish appearance. From fall 1967, the model was continued under the name "Jaguar 240" before being replaced by the XJ. Today, the MK2 is considered a classic of British automotive engineering.
