The Mercedes-Benz W140 series was produced from 1991 to 1998 as the brand's flagship model. It was available as a sedan with a short and long wheelbase and as a coupe. It celebrated its premiere in 1991 at the Geneva Motor Show. From 1993, the model designation was changed to "S," and in 1996, the coupé was given the name "CL-Class."
