Model history:
Successor of the VW Beetle with so-called pretzel window was in 1953 the in fan circles called "Ovali". This prepared with 30 instead of 24 hp more driving pleasure and yet the constructive proximity to the original VW is still noticeable to the Ovali. Six-volt on-board electrics were just as much a part of the standard equipment as the drum brakes, which were operated by cable hoist well into the 1950s. Likewise, the transmission synchronization was initially reserved only for the export version. The direction indicator by means of a winker in the B-pillar was retained by the Beetle even until the end of the 1950s, as was the jump-start by means of a choke train. In 1955, Volkswagen celebrated one million Beetles, while worldwide Beetle production did not end until 2003 with over 21.5 million vehicles built.
General information about the vehicle:
Now a VW Beetle "Ovali" is offered for auction in this auction: This is a model that was bought new in Sweden in 1957, but was driven very little by the first owner. In 1977, the Ovali came into the hands of the second owner, who drove the Beetle until 1980 and later sold it to the brother of the first owner. The seller states that the VW had about 40,000 kilometers at that time. As the next owner, a family member enjoyed the Beetle - he drove it only in good weather and used it on excursions. Since 1994, the Ovali has finally been parked in a garage and moved only annually. Until 2020, the VW was finally moved only to avoid damage to the stand. A comprehensible story about the Beetle is available due to the numerous Swedish TÜV documents and a logbook. According to the seller, a full acceptance with new HU+AU can be carried out on request for an extra charge. A current Classic-Data valuation report is € 42,000.
Exterior colour/varnish/body:
A repainting of this Beetle has never taken place to a large extent over the years, which means that the VW still has most of its original paint and accordingly has some patina after more than 65 years. Only the window frame of the left door was painted, the seller told us after consultation. All attachments to the VW Beetle are completely preserved and the chrome still shines as it should, in addition, the body is in an original condition and modifications deviating from the original delivery condition are not recognizable. The exact condition of the paint, body and all attachments can be found in the further photos.
Exterior rims/brakes/chassis:
On the original steel rims of the Beetle, which are covered with chrome hubcaps, tires with apparently sufficient tread are mounted. Inconsistencies in the area of the chassis or the brake system are not known to the seller.
Interior:
The interior of the VW Beetle, equipped with dark green imitation leather seats and door panels, is completely in original condition. Just like the exterior, a certain patina can also be attributed to the interior - but gross damage or even missing parts are obviously not to be taken from the Ovali. The 2-spoke steering wheel is white, the equipment features of this Beetle can be found in the series of pictures of the vehicle. All instruments, displays and controls follow a trouble-free service and function accordingly perfectly.
Mileage:
Through a large number of Swedish TÜV reports and on the basis of the available logbook, the mileage of this Ovali of 60,570 kilometers can be plausibly traced according to seller statements.
Engine:
The air-cooled 1.2-liter boxer engine of this Beetle placed in the rear delivers 30 hp - via a 4-speed manual transmission, the power is brought to the road via the rear axle.
Subsoil:
After consultation with the seller, he mentions that the underbody and the frame tips have no rust and have never been welded. In view of the 65 years of vehicle age, an apparently healthy substance can be taken from the underside of the VW Beetle. This Ovali Beetle, which is generally in very good condition, impresses among other things with its mostly first paint, the plausibly traceable history and the noble equipment combination for that time.
