Model history
The Porsche 944 was introduced in 1982 as a further development of the 924 and closed the gap between the 924 and the 911. With its 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine developed in-house by Porsche, which was combined with the rear-mounted transmission in a transaxle design, it impressed with its balanced weight distribution and excellent handling. Visually, the pop-up headlights and wide bodywork characterized its sporty appearance. Until 1991, the 944 was further developed in various performance levels – from the base model to the 944 Turbo with up to 250 hp – and was finally replaced by the Porsche 968.

LG Tom
