Model history

From leftover components of the Kübelwagen, the factory team developed special transport vehicles, in which the driver sat in the back above the engine and a large platform was available at the front. This post-war vehicle laid the foundation for the development of the VW T1. The first real prototype appeared in 1948 and laid the foundation for a VW car series that is still very popular today. The technology was largely taken over from the VW Beetle, a 4-cylinder boxer engine drove the Bulli over the streets. The design of the panel van was characterized by a large VW emblem at the front, a split windshield and V-shaped lines. In the production period from 1950 to 1967, almost 1.8 million T1 Bullis were manufactured, which were then exported all over the world due to their great popularity.
